Work on Navi Mumbai airport to begin in 2010

The work on the Greenfield airport near Navi Mumbai is expected to start by February 2010 . The state Government has decided to lay down the foundation stone for the airport next year.
At a recent meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Johny appoint an officer on special duty to oversee the work on the airport to be developed through public-private part-nership.
The rehabilitation work for the land acquired would take off in August , aspacial acquisition officer would transfer 458 hectares of government land to CIDCO for the same .
The airport in its first phase itself will have two parallel runway for simultaneous and segregated parallel operation, instead of only one runway in the first phase.
Mumbai International Airport Limited is most likely to win the bid for developing the airport since it has first right of refusal.
